Introduction

I'm a writer because it's just what i do! It's like when someone see's you're good at something you automatically become what that thing is. For example, when I used to go to church I was in the choir so, I became a singer. Whenever people saw me it was, "there goes our lil singer."

Or when I played basketball for those many years I was a basketball player. I was called by my last name because that was who I was, I balled! In 7th grade, when I wrote my first real poem, I became a poet and now, well now, I'm a writer. Yet, I never gave myself these titles. It seems like having a title is a way to group you. How come I can't be a basketball player who likes to sing and write poetry? Cause thats not how it works. In this society, we are only allowed to be great at one thing. If you're great at many its almost like you're a freak or people will tell you you need

to settle down. Like, why do I need to be a teacher, couldn't I be a teacher and a doctor? I mean that's why they made double majors right? Wrong! They trick you into believing that you double major so you can do both things, however, they really want you to pick one and stick with that one. I never wanted to be a basketball player. It was just fun for me, something to do because there was nothing else to do when I lived in Maryland, but I loved it, it grew on me, yet, as soon as people began to predict my future the game that I once loved wasn't fun for me anymore, so by the time I got to high school I quit! It seems like every-time I find something I'm good at there's something I'm better at. So I think I will give myself a title this time. I think I am a writer! I eat sleep and breath words. I educate myself everyday that I may have somthing else to write. I write with my heart not my mind. It's what I live for! It is the only thing that seems to soothe me. I write anything and everything all times of the night. If I'm dreaming about a poem I will wake up and write it down. No one will EVER keep me away from my pen and notebook, therefore, I think I am a writer!
